Day 1: Arrival- Nairobi- Samburu National Reserve.

On your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our tour manager who will brief you on your safari as you depart for Samburu National Reserve arriving in time for lunch.

The reserve is located within the lands of the colorful semi-nomadic Samburu tribesmen. The reserve is home to rare drought resistant animals that are peculiar to the semi-arid region north of the equator. These include the reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the Beisa Oryx, gerenuk and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich. Samburu is dry most of the year but is watered by the Ewaso Nyiro River, which rises in the Aberdare’s and drains in the Lorian swamp north of Shaba National Reserve.

Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve.

Pre-breakfast Game viewing followed by breakfast then depart for morning and afternoon Game drives the whole day with your packed lunch en-route.

Samburu is north of the equator and contains rare, drought resistant animal species, which go for long periods of time without water. These include the reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the blue-shanked Somali ostrich, the gerenuk or giraffe gazelle and the beisa oryx. In the late afternoon (at an extra cost), go for optional activities like having a nature walk, visiting Samburu villages to see the nomadic lifestyle or swimming in the nearby lodges.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve- Lake Nakuru National Park

Pre-breakfast exploration of this harshly beautiful reserve where game bounds, especially in the forest fringes of the Ewaso Nyiro River ‘which flows gently through the dry landscape.Later after lunch check out from the lodge then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park Arriving late in the evening for your dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park

Pre-breakfast bird watching at the lake followed by breakfast. After breakfast depart for a morning and afternoon Game drives with your launch at the lodge.

Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in central Kenya and is protected by a small Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake’s abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously lines the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Black and White rhinos have also been introduced.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park- Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Pre-breakfast Game drive in the park followed by breakfast. Later in the mid-morning check out from the camp and depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve arriving late in the afternoon for an afternoon Game drive till dusk.

Lake Nakuru National Park (188 km²), created in 1961 around Lake Nakuru, near Nakuru Town. It is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores. The surface of the shallow lake is often hardly recognizable due to the continually shifting mass of pink. The number of flamingoes on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Cliff. Also of interest is an area of 188 km around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes and black rhinos.

The most spectacular event of the natural world takes place here; The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture while being followed on their heels by the predators of the savanna; lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vulture. It hosts over 450 species of animals which include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve.

After breakfast, experience the magical Masai Mara; with a morning and an afternoon Game drives, taking your packed lunch in the drive.

The wildebeests are the most dominant inhabitants of the Masai Mara. Their numbers are estimated in the millions. The great migration starts in July each year when well over one million wildebeest along with large numbers of Thompson’s gazelles, zebra and other herbivores migrate from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to fresh pastures in the north and then back south again in October.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve.

You will depart for a visit to the Masai villages after your breakfast and gat to learn their way of living.

The Masai are so significant due to their culture. Starting from their dress code, the color red is so significant in that they scare away wild animals as they co-exist with them. They believe that God, Enkai, gave them cattle, therefore they believe that all the cattle belongs to them. That’s the reason why they have been known due to their cattle rustling. Although the Maasai are known for their nomadic life and cattle keeping, they are a group of agricultural Maasai, known as IL Loikop, are look down upon by the cattle keeping group, the Wakwavi since they believe they are the true Maasais created to keep cattle.

Day 8: Maasai Mara National Reserve- Nairobi

After your breakfast check out and depart for Nairobi for your departure, viewing the panoramic Rift Valley; the only earths feature observable from space, on your way.
