14 Days Africa Game Viewing Safari Adventure is a 14 days’ road safari that will start in Nairobi and end in Nairobi, taking you to some of the best destinations in East Africa.  In Kenya, 14 Days Africa Game Viewing Safari Adventure will visit Samburu National Reserve, a unique reserve with wildlife species rarely found anywhere else such as the Reticulated Giraffe; Mt Kenya National park, famous for having the highest mountain in Kenya; Lake Nakuru National park, Kenya’s captivating flamingo sanctuary; the Maasai Mara, Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve and the 7th wonder of the world and Amboseli National Park.

Day 1: Arrival – Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Upon your arrival, you will be warmly received by the Tour Manager, who will brief you about your safari then immediately depart for Samburu National Reserve, with lunch en-route thus arriving late afternoon when you will go for a late afternoon game viewing drive.

In addition to Kamunyak, the renowned lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves, the Samburu National Park boasts of some several species of animals which are considered unique to the region, including its unique dry-country animal life. All three big cats, Lion, Cheetah and Leopard can be found here, as well as Elephants, Buffalos and Hippos. Other mammals frequently seen in the park include Gerenuk, Grant’s gazelle, Kirk’s Dik-dik, Impala, Waterbuck, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Reticulated Giraffe. Rhinos are no longer present in the park due to heavy poaching.

There are over 350 species of birds which include Somali Ostrich, Kingfisher, Sunbird, Bee-eater, Marabou Stork, Tawny Eagle, Bateleur, Guinea fowl and Vultures. The Ewaso Nyiro River contains large numbers of the Nile crocodile.

Day 2: Samburu National Park – Mount Kenya National Park

You will enjoy an early pre-breakfast game viewing drive.  After breakfast, you will proceed to Mount Kenya National Park for a game viewing experience till evening, with packed lunch being served en route.

Mt Kenya National park in the Central Highlands is home to the majestic Mt. Kenya.  Afterwards, you will go for a late afternoon game viewing and nature walk at the park with the aid of a guide till evening.

The local communities surrounding Mount Kenya are mainly the Gikuyu, Meru, Embu and Maasai. The Gikuyu communities believe that their God lived on Mount Kenya when he came down from the sky. That mountain was God’s throne on earth.  Mt. Kenya dominates the southern and western sides of the mountain where agriculturalists are highly favored by the fertile volcanic soil on the lower slopes. The Meru communities dominate the East and North of the Mountain, and are known to keep livestock. The Embu people, like the Gikuyu believe that the mountain is the home of their God and they therefore dominate the windward side of the Mountain. Because of this, all the communities around the region believe that Mount Kenya is Sacred.

Day 3: Mt Kenya National Park – Lake Nakuru

After an early breakfast you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stopover for a picnic lunch.  Continue to Lake Nakuru and on arrival depart for a bird viewing and game viewing drive around the park especially looking out for the beautiful pink flamingoes, hippo, Colubus monkeys and baboons.

Millions of fuchsia pink flamingoes dominate Lake Nakuru National Park, as well as the fish eating pelicans and over 450 other species of birds. The lake is renowned as the most extraordinary bird spectacle in the world.

Thousands of both little grebes and white winged black terns are frequently seen as well as avocets, ducks, stilts and the migrant waders.

However, visitors to the Lake Nakuru may also catch a glimpse of Thomson gazelles, impala, water-bucks, giraffes, buffaloes or even black rhino.

Lake Nakuru National Park is a park that consists of various habitats such as the dying out euphorbia forest or the yellow barked habitat.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara

After breakfast, you will enjoy a short game viewing drive then depart for the Maasai Mara National Park arriving in the evening in time for check in at your camp.

The Mara reserve is quite a place to be, as it offers an out of the ordinary adventure, from the crafty hyenas, which may be heard laughing at night, to the variety of wildlife species in this diverse fauna.  There is also an abundance of crocodiles and hippos in the Mara River. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest which gradually makes way for bush and grassland thus the excellent availability of food for the diverse wildlife.

Day 5: Maasai Mara (Full day)

You will spend this wonderful day viewing and exploring the magnificent and scenic game reserve, where you may have the chance to see all the big five in addition to the numerous bird life found in the reserve. You will enjoy picnic lunches at the Mara River before proceeding with game viewing drives till evening. Alternatively, you may take a nature walk in the surrounding hills accompanied by a Maasai Moran in the afternoons. On one of these days, you will also have the option of taking a hot air balloon flight safari at an extra cost. You could also visit the Maasai villages for a familiarization tour as you learn about Maasai culture and how they co-exist with wild animals, as well as their special relationship with cattle.

The Maasai Mara, now the 7th wonder of the world and 4th most preferred tourist destination in the world is a home to wildlife in such abundance ad variety that it is difficult to imagine The annual migration of the wildebeest and the zebras starts from the Serengeti as they search for water and pasture while at the same time being followed on their heels by the predators of the savannah; Lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures. It hosts over 450 species of animals which includes lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.

Optional Balloon Flight

You can opt to carry out your game viewing activity on an adventurous and unforgettable balloon flight over the spectacular Mara at an extra cost.

The balloon flight gives you an extra ordinary experience as you can view game from a birds eye view.  The extra cost includes a champagne drink or a bush breakfast in the wild!

The Maasai are a semi-nomadic cattle rearing community with a fascinating culture.  They regard themselves not just as residents of this area but that they are as much a part of the life of the land as the land is part of their lives. Being nomads, their life-style depends entirely on cattle thus their special relationship with cattle. Traditionally, the Maasai rarely hunt and living alongside wildlife in harmony is an important part of their beliefs. Lions and Wildebeest play an important role in their cultural beliefs as their own herds of cattle. This unique co-existence of man and wildlife makes the Maasai land one of the world’s most unique wilderness regions that is worth visiting.

Day 6: Maasai Mara – Serengeti National Park

Early morning breakfast at your camp and check out with packed lunch from your camp. A 3 hour drive to Isebania Tanzania border. You arrive at around 10:45am at the border. Processing of Visa and crossing to Tanzania will take 45 minutes or more, and afterwards proceed to Serengeti. A 3-hour drive to the Main gate into northern Serentgeti. You will be with our Tanzania driver guide. On arrival, game en-route drive in Serengeti while heading to your lodge – Mbalageti Lodge.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park (Full day)

After breakfast you will enjoy full-day game drives. Serengeti national park has rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and Kori bastard being common, variety of larks, finches and raptors. Serengeti shares the same eco-system with Maasai Mara hence there are plenty to watch. All meals and Overnight at Serengeti Katikati Camp.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater for a game viewing experience till evening. Carry a packed lunch.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a well-known heritage center in the world, sheltering the most beautiful wildlife haven on earth.  It is situated in Northern Tanzania and which is the largest unbroken ancient caldera in the world. It is now considered as Africa’s ‘Garden of Eden’ due to the thousands of wildlife including lions, elephants, wildebeests, rhinos, zebras, Thompson’s gazelles, and buffaloes. The animals are protected by the confines of a natural stone wall which keeps them within the crater. Thousands of flamingos are also found in the soda lake within the crater.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater

You will spend these two days exploring the extensive lands with packed lunch as well as descending into the crater floor for a crater tour. The drive commences with the 600 m descent to the crater floor, a magnificent natural amphitheater. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is a great wildlife attraction. You will have no trouble spotting Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and many species of plains animals -Wildebeest, Zebra, Reedbuck, Thompson gazelle and many more.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After breakfast enjoy morning at leisure at the Ngorongoro Rhino lodge with natural environment surrounding Ngrongoro crater, then drive to Arusha to arrive by 1200 hrs Lunch would be taken at Arusha town, with a drop off at Arusha Tourist inn for rest and overnight.

Day 11: Arusha – Entebbe

After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and take a morning flight to Entebbe, Uganda for a gorilla/chimpanzee tracking experience.  On arrival, will drive through traditional homesteads and farms and this will enable you enjoy and appreciate the beautiful scenery across that part of the country.  In the evening, you will check into your lodge at Kibale for overnight stay.

Day 12: Entebbe – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, proceed to Bwindi where you will arrive in time for a late lunch.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home of the rare mountain gorillas.

Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it.

Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Bandas).

Day 13: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Gorilla tracking)

After breakfast you will set off early with guides to track the gorillas.

The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngster’s frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.  Afterwards return to camp exhilarated to enjoy a drink.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rain-forest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 600.

There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.

Day 14: Bwindi Forest – Entebbe – Departure.

After early breakfast drive from Bwindi forest to Entebbe for lunch, after lunch take an afternoon Nairobi bound flight at the Entebbe International airport and arrive in Nairobi in time for your out bound flight to your next destination.
